About Dr. Sabiha Pasha
Dr. Sabiha Pasha completed her medical degree in 1991 at Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. She is triple board-certified in hospice and palliative medicine, integrative medicine and internal medicine. She completed her internship and residency at Long Island College Hospital.
Dr. Pasha has been in practice for more than 25 years. In addition to joining cCARE, Dr. Pasha works at Palomar Medical Center Escondido and Poway and is also the current chief of staff at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, CA. She was introduced to palliative care in 2005 and chose this field of medicine to take care of the “whole” person.
“Palliative care promises to restore autonomy and dignity to the chronic and seriously ill,” says Dr. Pasha. “To focus on quality of life as defined uniquely by the patient, and to support the family, even while ameliorating pain and other uncomfortable symptoms, was exactly what my patients needed. As it turns out, the training and certification was exactly what I needed. Palliative care catapulted me onto a path of self-discovery, compassion and resiliency. Every day I am a witness to fear and courage.”
Dr. Pasha is most proud of providing personalized care that is aligned with the patient’s unique condition, goals and needs. She understands that when patients are admitted to a hospital or come to see a doctor they are at their most vulnerable. They are often left alone to traverse the complexity of their illness with confusing treatment choices, while at the same time managing their ever-meager resources.
Dr. Pasha, grew up in Karachi, Pakistan, and speaks English, Urdu and German fluently. In her spare time, Dr. Pasha enjoys reading, writing, learning and painting. She likes hiking and prefers to be out in nature amongst the trees or by the ocean.
