It’s important to me to understand who the patient is as a person and what is important to them in their life. I am then better able to treat and support them and their needs. I take into account not only their physical needs, but emotional and social needs as well.

About Dr. Timothy Corbin
After completing his undergraduate degree at University of California, Santa Barbara, Dr. Corbin attended medical school at Louisiana State University. He followed this by completing a residency at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, where he served as chief medical resident. He went on to found the palliative care program at Scripps Encinitas Hospital in 2008, and has served as the medical director of palliative care for Scripps Health since 2013.
Dr. Corbin is board certified in internal medicine and hospice and palliative care, with more than 20 years of experience practicing palliative medicine. He is passionate about sharing his knowledge and expertise with the community and the next generation of caregivers, frequently delivering lectures on advanced care planning, hospice and palliative medicine to residents, fellows and nursing students.
Above all else, Dr. Corbin most enjoys the relationships he is able to build with his patients and their families. He places a high value on listening and taking the appropriate time to discern and understand a patient’s individual situation and needs.
Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Corbin enjoys being a father and spending time with his kids, who he says are growing up too fast. You’ll also find him participating in outdoor recreation and hanging out with his Chesapeake Bay Retriever.
