Hematology & Oncology News featured California Cancer Associates for Research & Excellence for earning the HOPE (Hematology and Oncology Practice Excellence) award, in the category of Clinical Best Practices.
“cCARE in Fresno was originally a single speciality medical oncology group of three that started in 1992… For years, cCARE was engaged in a relationship with a local hospital and acted as the medical oncology department of the hospital-based cancer center. During a physician retreat in 2003, the physicians and administrative staff committed themselves to the goal of providing academic level of cancer care in a comforting, community based setting. Key to this goal was the development of a comprehensive center to allow for the integration of multiple disciplines.”
“cCARE is the recipient of the 2009 HOPE award as the best example of a medium-sized practice in the category of Clinical Best Practices among this year’s entrants.”
“In 2016, I was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 41,” said Dr. Marianne Ingheim, the facilitator for the Pages of Hope supportive journaling class. “Then in 2023, I had a recurrence.”
“Mostly it’s the cause of inflammation that can happen,” said Dr. Abdul Mustajeeb Haseeb, a medical oncologist & hematologist at cCare in Northeast Fresno. “Changing the gut biome of the bacteria that really increases the inflammation and increases the risk for cancer.”
Some women live with denser breast tissue than others, which puts them at higher risk for breast cancer.
