Dr. Ravi D. Rao is board certified in medical oncology and hematology. His goal is to be his patients’ companion during their journey. He believes that providing great care and understanding makes a big difference to patients’ quality of life and reduces their suffering. He has great respect for patients and their families and believes it’s very important to listen to them in order to find the best possible treatment available.

Dr. Rao attended the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India, where he completed his internship. He completed his residency in 2000 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison. He completed a fellowship and became an attending physician and an assistant professor of oncology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr. Rao has been involved in clinical research, with a special interest in new drug development. He has several publications and has received several awards for his work, such as the Division of Oncology Scholarly Award from Mayo Clinic.

In his free time Dr. Rao enjoys current affairs and reading science books and science fiction. He also likes listening to audiobooks on various topics, especially during long walks. Dr. Rao has a young daughter who takes up most of his time. Every year they take a family trip in the summer, making it as fun and educational as possible.
