About Dr. Steven Hager

Dr. Hager is board certified in medical oncology, hematology and internal medicine. He is passionate about the field of oncology because of its cutting-edge approach to science and medicine that results in superb treatment plans.

Before his time at cCARE, Dr. Hager was the department head of medical oncology at Charette Health Care Centers and spent time as a staff oncologist at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. He also formed the first oncology department in the United States military services.

Dr. Hager completed a hematology-oncology fellowship at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, and an internal medicine residency at the National Naval Medical Center. He earned his medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and received his B.A. from Tufts University.

In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Hager is also an assistant clinical professor at Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He also belongs to many professional organizations including the American College of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and is featured in a variety of publications and research projects.

When he’s not teaching and practicing medicine, Dr. Hager enjoys traveling and volunteering. He serves as the volunteer physician at Holy Cross Clinic at Poverello House, and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, as well as the Central California Blood Center.
