Explaining the moments following her diagnosis of an aggressive form of breast cancer, Stephanie said, “I felt like I got hit by a Mack truck.” As the shock wore off, Stephanie, who recounted the details of her story on cCARE’s website, relied on her buoyant optimism and determination, along with months of treatment at the hands of Dr. Robert Lemon and the team at cCARE.
“When you have a good attitude, it’s a lot easier to push through and go through these difficult treatments,” Dr. Lemon explained. He also stressed the importance of early detection, which drastically increases the odds of survival.
“In 2016, I was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 41,” said Dr. Marianne Ingheim, the facilitator for the Pages of Hope supportive journaling class. “Then in 2023, I had a recurrence.”
“Mostly it’s the cause of inflammation that can happen,” said Dr. Abdul Mustajeeb Haseeb, a medical oncologist & hematologist at cCare in Northeast Fresno. “Changing the gut biome of the bacteria that really increases the inflammation and increases the risk for cancer.”
Some women live with denser breast tissue than others, which puts them at higher risk for breast cancer.
